Yearly Events

This is a tentative schedule of our regular events throughout the year.  Of course, all events are subject to change.
January 
  • Resurrection--Hosted by the Youth Ministry of the Holston Conference, this conference for Youth is held each year in Pigeon Forge, TN.
  • RezKidz--Sponsored by Resurrection, a Ministry to Youth, it is a family worship event for parents and young children that coincides with Resurrection.     
  • Divine Rhythm--This conference for Young Adults is held each year in January in Gatlinburg, TN.

April
  • United Methodist Men's Pancake Breakfast--3rd Saturday from 7:00 to 11:00 AM

May
  • Jubilation (A Retreat for Adults 50 Years & Older) --Sponsored by the Holston Conference for Older Adult Ministries
  • Ladies' Night Out--sponsored by the United Methodist Women with a meeting at Russell Chapel Church (in May, August, & December)
  • God's Hands Ministry:  Change the World through Kindness Event

June
  • HOLSTON ANNUAL CONFERENCE at Lake Junaluska

July
  • VBS (Vacation Bible School)--2nd week in July

August
  • District "Roots & Shoots Luncheon" at Colonial Heights UMC--includes program, lunch, mission emphasis, and fellowship
  • Ladies' Night Out--sponsored by the United Methodist Women with a meeting at Russell Chapel Church (in May, August, & December)

September
  • Homecoming (3rd Sunday in Sept.)--Bring a dish for fellowship after the morning service!
  • The Lord's Acre Sale (Last Sat. in Sept.)--The Lord's Acre Sale began in Georgia in 1922 when a pastor asked his church members to set aside one acre of farmland and donate the proceeds to the church.  Today, our Lord's Acre Sale includes area Methodist churches with various groups making cakes or pies or selling produce or plants.  There are baked goods, canned goods, and homemade crafts.  Join us for fun, fellowship, and fundraising!

  • United Methodist Men's Pancake Breakfast--3rd Saturday from 7:00 to 11:00 AM

​December
  • Hanging of the Greens (1st Sunday after Thanksgiving)--It's a beautiful ceremony where the church is robed in Christmas decor while the meanings of our traditions are explained! 
  • Ladies' Night Out--sponsored by the United Methodist Women with a meeting at Russell Chapel Church (in May, August, & December)
